Here are packages for the Icon and Braille + for standard linux applications. Download the ipk files and place them on the Icon or Braille +. The select the file from file explorer to install.

Installation Instructions

  • Place the file in an empty temporary directory on your icon/braille plus.
  • Run 'gunzip links.tar.gz' then tar -xvf links.tar to uncompress the file.
  • Run 'ipkg install *.ipk *.deb' to install all the necessary packages. The warnings in the configure portion of the gpm package can be ignored.
  • The installation files can be removed if desired.

Jzip

This is a z-machine interactive fiction interpreter.

Installation Instructions

  • Place the jzip.tar.gz file in an empty temporary directory on your icon/braille plus.
  • Run 'gunzip jzip.tar.gz' then 'tar -xvf jzip.tar' to uncompress the files.
  • Run './install-jzip' to install the packages.
  • The installation files can be removed if desired.
  • To install the games, create an empty folder on your unit to store them, and copy the if-games.tar.gz file into it.
  • Use 'gunzip if-games.tar.gz' then 'tar -xvf if-games.tar' to uncompress the files.

Frobtads

This is an interpreter for TADS interactive fiction games. Many of these games can be downloaded from http://www.ifarchive.org.

Installation

  • This package can either be installed from the file explorer, or with the ipkg command from the console. Use the frob command to kick off the program.

Pine

The pine email client.

Installation Instructions

  • Place the file in an empty temporary directory on your icon/braille plus.
  • Run 'gunzip pine.tar.gz' then tar -xvf pine.tar to uncompress the file.
  • Run './install.sh' to install all the necessary packages. The errors mentioning packages with duplicate names can be ignored
  • The installation files can be removed if desired.
