Photo of Scott Crawford

Scott Crawford is an Orientation and Mobility Instructor at the Affiliated Blind of Louisiana Training Center (ABL). He earned an M.A. in 1990 in blind rehabilitation, with an emphasis in O&M, from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He has taken classes in rehabilitation teaching (RT).

Scott's professional experience with clients who have a wide variety of disabilities in addition to blindness includes an internship at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham; a total of 7 years (1990-95 and 1998-2001) in Atlanta at the Center for the Visually Impaired, where he worked in the center-based program, community-based program, O&M, and RT; and a total of 10 years (1995-96 and 2001-present) at ABL, where he has worked in job placement but now spends his time dedicated to O&M.

Over the years, Scott has presented on various topics in his field including working with wheelchair users, working with walkers, working with the elderly, avoiding professional burnout, and creating tactual maps and graphics. In 2000, Scott was awarded the AER Division 9 Citation of Excellence for Direct Services Award.

Scott's love of Cajun music and dancing keeps him grounded in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Pat Crawford, Ph.D., PLA, is the Associate Director, School of Planning, Design, and Construction (SPDC) and an Associate Professor in Landscape Architecture at Michigan State University. She received her BS in Horticulture from the University of Missouri - Columbia, Masters of Landscape Architecture from Kansas State University, and Ph.D. in Environmental Design and Planning from Arizona State University.

Pat is a licensed Landscape Architect and has nine years practice experience with the Missouri Division of State Parks. Pat worked with the State Parks ADA Advisory Committee for 6 years creating and building accessible park facilities throughout the state.

Her accessibility work has been recognized by the Federal Access Board Regulatory Negotiation Committee's Recommendations for Accessibility Guidelines: Outdoor Developed Areas; the American Society of Landscape Architects, St. Louis Chapter; and with service awards from the Missouri Governor's Council on Disability, the Missouri Rehabilitation Association President's Award and the Governor's award for quality and productivity.

She presents nationally and internationally on her work in engaged teaching methods and public participation in design.

Pat currently resides in Michigan with her life partner and two Labradors.
